IAAP Advances Administrative Excellence

Administrative professionals can sharpen their skills and learn the latest trends and techniques in administration and business through the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the world’s leading association for administrative assistants, secretaries, office supervisors and other administrative support staff.

IAAP’s 40,000 members and affiliates worldwide gain a professional edge with educational activities and resources, award-winning publications, certification programs, conferences and workshops, and international networking opportunities. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, IAAP has more than 600 chapters and affiliate organizations in 25 countries.

Major services offered by IAAP include:

Seminars and Conferences.  IAAP and its local chapters host a variety of seminars, workshops and conferences featuring internationally recognized speakers.  IAAP's largest training event is its International Convention and Education Forum held each summer.

Personal and Professional Development Resources.  IAAP offers more than 250 books, self-study workbooks and online training courses on all facets of office administration, many qualifying for the Continuing Education Unit (CEU).  IAAP's Complete Office Handbook is considered to be the definitive reference guide for today’s electronic office.

OfficePRO®  Magazine.  Each issue of IAAP’s award-winning magazine gives readers a wealth of tips and advice on office administration and career development.

Local and International Networking.  From local chapter meetings to online information sharing with administrative professionals around the world, IAAP members build valuable personal connections and gain knowledge about best practices. IAAP members can be found in large Fortune 500 companies as well as thousands of small and mid-sized businesses.

Professional Certification.  Certification from IAAP is an internationally recognized standard of excellence.  The Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) designation demonstrates proficiency in the expanded range of administrative duties required in today’s workplace.  The traditional Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) rating also shows strong and well-rounded administrative skills.  More than 60,000 office professionals have attained certification from IAAP.

Research.  IAAP monitors current trends and practices in the administrative profession, and is a clearinghouse for information and research findings.

Administrative Professionals Week.  IAAP is the sole official sponsor of Administrative Professionals Week (formerly Professional Secretaries Week), conducted annually since 1952. The observance recognizes the contributions of administrative professionals worldwide; many IAAP chapters hold professional development and networking events during this time.
